In 1982, Forbes began tracking the 400 richest Americans, the Forbes 400 ranked the richest on net worth and started something that made us curious about how much the elite earn and where they rank on rich list.
Back in ’82 there were only 13 billionaires, a small numbered compared to the mega rich of 2017, with a mere $75 million needed to secure a place on the list. When that first list was published only 3% were from technology driven fortunes, with the majority of the wealthy coming from oil. Compare this to the 2016 list where the top of the list were mostly tech driven!
Fast forward to 2017 and we have the Forbes Rich List aka The World’s Billionaire List, forgotten are the millionaires, it’s now time for billionaires. With tech giants such as Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos dominating the list, it truly is a new era of rich. So what’s the next step for these money moguls, it’s not a question of if, but a question of when are we going to see our first trillionaire and who will it be?
