BMW i3 for Corporate Sales

Electric car technology has made great strides in recent years with BMW at the forefront of electric vehicle (EV) technology. BMW is now offering the BMW i3 as an environmental, efficient, and sustainable option for business needs as just one of a wide range of company cars to choose from.

The BMW i series is the first premium EV built from ground up; designed around electric power as an electric vehicle. Not just a conventional car with a battery, the BMW i Series is built with carbon fibre reinforced plastic, that’s more resilient then steel, but 50% lighter. This enables the i3 to achieve maximum range, increasing efficiency, sustainability, and safety without compromising dynamics.

With a full battery, the BMW i3 can achieve 80-100 miles, and coupled with its state-of-the-art navigation technology, charging stations are never too far away when it is running low. Fast charging technology enables the i3 to be charged in three hours (0-80%) – three times faster than the traditional nine hours of previous EVs.

As a pure EV city car, the BMW i3 offers excellent running cost and tax benefits. Until 31 March 2015, the i3 is zero-rated for benefit-in-kind (BIK) tax (currently the three-year tax cost in the UK is £613). Depending on electricity supplier and distance travelled, the annual fuel/ charging cost of the i3 can be as little as £140 (based on 10,000 miles per year). BMW offers an installation service too, so a wall box charger can be installed at home – and with increasing numbers of charging points being installed around the country, it will be much easier to find charging points.

BMW also recognises that sometimes you undertake longer business journeys, so the company can provide a BMW Group vehicle (through BMW Access) for those longer trips. However, the i3 is also available with a range extender, enabling it to travel twice the distance without refuelling.

At the New York International Show, the BMW i3 won the 2014 World Green Car of the Year, as well as the World Car Design of the Year awards, and with these statistics, it is easy to see why.
