Great advice from experts on growing your NYC startup company

Diving into some of the top advice and tips from experts who have already made it, to help you grow and expand your NYC startup company without the hassle.

The beginning stages of a startup are always the hardest, especially in a city like New York. Growing your NYC startup company takes a ton of time and dedication. When you’re in the thick of it, it can be all-consuming and extremely lonely. If you’re feeling like you’re the captain of a sinking ship, remember that many others have been in this position before.

Today, we’re going to give you some tips and advice from some of those people. Often, when you’re trying to grow a business, you need reassurance from people around you to feel like you’re getting things right. Instead, we’ll do you one better by giving you reassurance from people who have reached the highest level.

Arianna Huffington – Huffington Post

Arianna Huffington is the co-founder of the Huffington Post, one of the most successful online news and lifestyle publications there is. She recently stepped down from HuffPost to work on her wellness startup, Thrive Global, which focuses on stress reduction in the startup community.

She once tweeted, “you really have to believe in your product to deal with the naysayers and persevere”. Focus on what you believe in, not who’s shooting you down.

Sophia Amoruso – Nasty Gal

Nasty Gal started as an eBay store in 2006. By 2012, it was a multi-million dollar company and was named the “fastest-growing retailer” by INC magazine. Sophia’s also authored the NYT bestseller, “#GIRLBOSS”, which has this gem of a tip:

“Don’t give up, don’t take anything personally, and don’t take no for an answer; you never know what you’re going to learn along the way.”

Tim Ferriss – Author/Podcaster

Tim Ferriss is an author, investor, and has one of the most successful business podcasts in the world. He wrote a book called “The 4-Hour Work Week” that has been an inspiration to the people pining for work-life balance.

It’s easy to get wrapped up in launching your startup and everything that comes with it, like hiring employees, meeting deadlines, making real check stubs, or ordering paper towels for your kitchen. When the business is bogging you down, you need to be able to take a step back and ask yourself if you’re really happy.

Tara Gentile – What Works

What Works is the brainchild of Tara Gentile, an author, speaker, and advisor to some of the biggest startups in the country. She works with business owners to help them improve their business models, messaging, and influence.

Having been featured in publications like Forbes, Fast Company, and Inc., Tara’s never short a good quote. She says: “The best way to learn is by doing. Stop waiting and bring your ideas to life today.” If you’ve been second-guessing your decisions or wondering if you’re cut out for the work, just dive in and deal with the rest later.

Your NYC startup company can make it

At one point or another, all of the people we’ve discussed here today were in the same position as you. With perseverance and some smarts, they all became huge successes in their respective fields. There’s no reason that you can’t take your NYC startup company to the same levels, so heed their advice and push forward to better days.
