73% of people working beyond contracted hours
A survey has revealed that almost three quarters of people in the UK are working beyond their regular contracted hours for no extra pay.
Worryingly, two-thirds of respondents said they felt obliged to work these extra hours, and that excessive hours were affecting their work-life balance.
Technology
Driverless cars given the green light
The UK has authorised the use of driverless cars, such as those used by Google, on roads from January 2015. In the meantime, the government will be drafting a new set of regulations to ensure the safety of these vehicles on public roads.

The Laing Buisson healthcare report has once again named Home Instead as their top home-care provider in their national report of home-care standards – the second time Home Instead have won the accolade. The franchise topped the list with 97% compliance.
