Audi S8 review
The Audi A8 is a large executive saloon that looks perfect in the car parks of the most successful businesses. The Audi S8 is an evolution of the A8 and delivers more speed and power. It is the perfect car for those who wish to own an executive saloon for their professional brand, but also wants the speed and fun that comes with the S8. It is a great car to consider getting on business car leasing.
Under the bonnet
The Audi S8 carries a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine. Sounds impressive, right? It develops 515 bhp and that allows this 2,000 kg+ saloon from 0-60 mph in a blistering 4.1 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph, but then let’s be honest, you aren’t likely to reach that speed (you really shouldn’t).
Now if you are a business that has concerns over fuel economy and efficiency, then this car is unlikely to be for you. However, if you have little concern for fuel economy, then all that power and speed does come at a cost. It develops 28.2 mpg.
There is an addition to the S8 in the form of the S8 Plus. This model delivers up to 597 bhp. This allows it to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds. Again, the top speed is limited to 155 mph, however, the limiter can be removed to deliver 189.5 mph.
Inside the cabin
Despite the new upgraded engine and insane speed, the S8 is still first and foremost a luxury saloon. This means that the interior is key and boy, does this car deliver. As soon as you and maybe your driver get inside the car, you will both notice the beautifully crafted and comfortable surroundings.
It does have a slightly sportier design than the A8, with a range of sporty upgrades. These include carbon fibre inlays and grey-black dials. The seats have also been replaced with Sports comfort seats, which without a doubt are magnificently comfortable and supportive.
With regards to space, you would expect there to be plenty on offer being a luxury saloon and you would be correct. In the rear, there is plenty of head and legroom for three adults and the driver has a huge range of adjustments to his seating position as well. Audi also deliver well when it comes to boot space, giving the S8 a capacity of 510-litres.
The experience
If you are being driven in this car and are wishing to work, then you will be thankful that this car has noise cancellation technology. This simply means that it plays artificial sound through the speakers to cancel out the tyre and wind noise that will affect this car.
It is well known for being able to hand driving fast very well thanks to the 8-speed automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive system. It handles well in the corners thanks to sharp, responsive steering, making sure that either you or your driver are always in total control.
