Getting your brand known is vital for any business, but making it stand out above your competitors is important as well. Consumers are attracted to brands that they share the same values with, and purchase products from stores, whether physical or online, that they trust.
This means that you need to be able to apply a personal touch to your business, while at the same time always being honest and positive with your potential or existing customers. You can do this with your brand.
Let them see your human side
Always be approachable and show them you have a human side, that you are not just a businessperson. Help them solve their problems with your products and your business will thrive. Don’t respond to every post on social media with exactly the same answer, so it looks like it has been copied and pasted. That will appear to be insincere, and make them lose faith in you. Lose trust and you lose sales.
Understand your target audience
The most successful brands are the ones that understand their target audience. For example, if your niche is for grandparents and that is who you want to target, talk about the experiences grandparents have with their grandchildren. If you are aiming to reach parents, discuss a parenting problem, or if it is young ladies, talk about things they may have an interest in. Once you know the group you are most likely to sell to connecting with them becomes much easier if you show some interest in things relating to them.
Don’t try and sell make up to a male pensioners group, for instance, or kitchenware to a bunch of 12-year olds. You need to pitch and sell to the right audience or you are going to end up with a lot of unsold goods on your hands.
Have a logo that is memorable
Make your logo totally different, but not complicated. Something simple that they will relate to your business every time they see it is best. You could even have an ice logo at a local event or venue, as they are not easily forgotten. Such things as a memorable logo can help to add uniqueness to your brand and this together with your personal touch can convert many more viewers into customers.
This also shows that your brand is original and that you have not just copied a competitor, and if you can find a reason why customers should buy from you rather than someone else, that is even better.
Consistency is the key to any successful business. If potential customers see your brand in the same places eventually they will stop to look when they are after a product you sell. If they know you have been serving the same customers for a while, that gives them more confidence in you.
Stay with the same look in similar places, and although it may take some time, your consistency will pay off in the long run.
Provide value for money
One of the best forms of advertising is word of mouth. If you provide value for money to your customers that will happen naturally, without much effort from you. By the same token, if you do not respond well to a complaint, that will also be passed on to numerous people and do your business harm. It is a fact that people are far more likely to talk about a bad experience than a good one, but if they are asked about a product they have purchased from you and they feel they got good value, they will recommend you to the enquirer.
Working 24 hours a day
If yours is an online business, most people expect an answer no matter what time of night or day it is. They simply just think there will always be someone working like there is in a bricks and mortar business. Make sure they get an automatic response so they do not think they are being ignored. Just a very polite message saying ‘Sorry we cannot deal with your query at the moment because we are asleep, but will answer you as soon as we can in the morning’ is all it needs.
With mega millions of small business all after the same customers, consumers can pick and choose who they buy from. If you want your brand to be a success you need to make sure that they know you are there, they like your products and they receive excellent customer service. Then you brand is much more likely to be a resounding success.
